Let us enliven your event with the colour and joyful noise of our empowering presence! 

Taiko drumming, a performance art which originated in Japan, creates a stirring spectacle. 

We are proud to be the UK’s first group from the LGBTQ+ community and allies, created to add a joyful and visible attraction to Pride events and festivals.

We formed in 2022 at an initiative for the first Pride in Hay-on-Wye, 3 workshops and a performance to open the successful event. 

To perform, we need:

Space – An area of approx. 14m squared, to house 10(+) large drums and players. We need to be able to lift arms and bachi (large beaters) high above our heads.

Logistics – To be able to unload and load drums close to the performance area.

Practicalities – To keep dry! (Drums can’t get wet!) and we are LOUD!

Contribution – towards expenses much appreciated.

We’ll gladly do workshops alongside a performance as well. The tutor, Heather Murray, is one of the founder members of www.taikowales.com, taiko drumming for health & wellbeing in the communities of Wales since 2012 and a member of the LGBTQ+ community.

Using the great spirit of Taiko to allow true colours to shine brightly 🌈

We already have Taiko for Pride (Exeter) on the way, and Taiko for Pride (Utah)!

The repertoire begins with 3 easy-to-learn pieces. With these in common, whatever our geographical location, we can then come together at larger events and raise a storm of positivity!
